Contestants must be recommended from a Senior Opera, with recitative where applicable, Senior Sacred Aria (aria from a major sacred work), with recitative where applicable, or National class, as provided for in the Provincial/Local Festival Syllabus.

Provincial Festival
- Maximum time limit to be determined by the Provincial Association
- 2 or more languages to be used
- three selections consisting of:
- (1) One selection from an Opera, with recitative where applicable, original key, language optional
- (2) One Aria from a major sacred work, with recitative where applicable, original key, language optional.
- One own choice selection
National Festival
- Maximum time limit of 60 minutes
- 3 or more languages to be used
- five selections consisting of
- Opera selection performed at Provincial Level
- Aria performed at Provincial Level
- Own choice selection performed at Provincial Level
- Own choice selection
- Own choice selection
